Transitional Kindergarten

Welcome to the Transitional Kindergarten Home Page!

My name is Desiree Contreras. I was born in West Covina C.A. and was raised in the city of Baldwin Park. I attended Rio Hondo College and graduated in 2004 with an Associates of Science Degree in Child Development. I also have a certificate of completion in Child Development with 27 units. I am currently attending Azusa Pacific University to receive my Bachelors Degree in Human Development. I speak three different languages (English, Spanish, and Italian). After I receive my degree, I look to further my education by obtaining my Masters Degree and Teaching credential from Azusa Pacific. I’ve been teaching and working with children for 12 years. I have worked in a pre-school and kindergarten setting for five years and I love every minute of it.

My number one reason for wanting to teach catholic school is I want to teach my faith and incorporate religion into traditional curriculum. I’m interested in assisting young children learn, and mature cognitively. I love watching the spark in a young child’s eye when they discover something for the first time. I’m fascinated in watching the various stages of development a child progresses through. I’ve always known since I was a child I was going to be a teacher. I love talking to young children and listening to what they have to say. Children will say honestly what is on their minds.

In my free time there is only one place you can find me, DISNEYLAND. I’m a BIG Mickey Mouse and Disney fan. I love to read and spend time with my four nieces and nephew. Anytime we can spend together is very important to me. I absolutely love to cook. My favorite dishes to cook are Italian dishes.

I want to extend a warm welcome to you and look forward to meeting and working with you all.

God Bless
